Reminder: Please do not put your trash or recyclable items to the curb any earlier than 1:00pm the day prior to your scheduled pick up and no later than 6:00am the day of your pick up. APPLIANCE & SCRAP METAL

Call the DPW office at 547-2486 ext. 13, prior to Friday’s pick up day. Metal list items are the following: washers, dryers, stoves, hot water heaters, refrigerators, freezers,
dishwashers, window air conditioners. Scrap metal is any and all metal objects with non-metal elements removed. These items should be placed on park strip separate from trash. Refrigerators are to have doors removed (or see below information regarding refrigerator recycling). Place appliances & scrap metal curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your appliances & scrap metal will be picked up. Do not place your appliances & scrap metal in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Appliances & scrap metal placed on the park strip will not harm the grass.

Extra refrigerators or freezers chugging away in many New Jersey garages and basements cost residents up to $150 in electricity every year. But now there's an easy solution. BRUSH, LIMBS, STUMPS

:Includes tree limbs and trimmings, brush with roots removed and stumps not anymore than twelve (12) inches in diameter with all dirt washed off. Brush, limbs and stumps should be no longer than 4 ft. If stumps are more than 12” in diameter call the DPW office for pick up prior to Thursday at 547-2486 ext. 13. Any tree work done by a contractor is the responsibility of
contractor to dispose of debris. Place brush, limbs, stumps, curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your brush limbs and stumps will be picked up. Do not place brush limbs and stumps in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Brush limbs and stumps placed on the
park strip will not harm the grass.

BATTERIES

Batteries will not be collected by Borough. Batteries can be disposed of at most auto part stores for a nominal fee or by disposing of at Camden County Hazardous Waste Collection sites, dates & times to be determined by the Camden County Dept of Environmental Affairs, Phone 856-858-5241.

CONCRETE/BLOCK/BRICK

Small piles of debris not to exceed 500 lbs. in aggregate and pieces may not exceed
50 lbs. per piece. DPW Office must be notified prior to Thursdays pick up at 547-2486 ext. 13. If
homeowner and/or contractor is replacing driveway, apron, curb, sidewalk, or any other type
of renovations, arrangements must be made for private disposal of all resulting debris. A sidewalk permit must also be obtained.

CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS

If you are doing any remodeling or building, you are responsible for removal of all debris whether
you use a contractor or not. This means you must rent a dumpster. If the job is very small the
Borough will pick up five buckets of debris per week not exceeding 50 pounds.

COMMINGLE

Includes empty unbroken food and/or beverage containers of clear, brown, and green glass: empty aluminum, tin and/or bi-metal food and beverages containers, and empty plastic juice, soda, water, milk, and/or laundry detergent bottles with only the number 1 (pete) and the number 2 (HDPE) symbols on the bottom. Do not include butter tubs, flower pots, anti-freeze or oil containers, laundry buckets, plastic bags, syringes, vinyl, 5 gallon pails. Make sure the acceptable containers are empty and rinsed out. Labels may be left on, but caps should be discarded.

These items can be placed all together in one container with mixed papers, newspapers, and corrugated cardboard, or you can continue to separate by placing commingle in recycling container, mixed paper and newspaper in a brown bag and corrugated cardboard by flattening and bundling. All items will ultimately be mixed together when picked up by contractor and thrown into recycling truck. Place items curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your recycling will be picked up. Do not place your recycling in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Recycling placed on the parkstrip will not harm the grass. LEAF PICK UP

Will begin the last week of September and end the last week of December weather permitting. There are 3 districts which will have 4 pick ups. Leaves are to be put to the park strip. Do not put leaves in street. Leaf machine will make one pass thru on your scheduled pick up week. The week of Thanksgiving there will be no pick up due to the short work week.

BAGGED LEAF PICK UP

Will be picked up during leaf season on Thursdays of each week and will include the whole town. Place bagged and/or containerized leaves curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your bagged leaves
will be picked up. Do not place your bagged leaves in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Bagged leaves placed on the park strip will not harm the grass.

SPRING LEAF PICK UP

Week of 3-30-2009, the pick up will consist of the whole town. Please put leaves to park strip and not in street. Leaf signs will be posted the week prior to pick up.

MIXED PAPERS

Includes magazines, catalogs, envelopes, junk mail, school papers, work books, textbooks (without covers) office paper, non metallic wrapping paper and computer printout paper. These items should be placed in a plastic bag which should be closed and tied.

These items can be placed all together in one container with commingle, newspapers, and corrugated cardboard, or you can continue to separate by placing commingle in recycling container, mixed paper and newspaper in a brown bag and corrugated cardboard by flattening and bundling. All items will ultimately be mixed together when picked up by contractor and thrown into recycling truck. Place items curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your recycling will be picked up. NEWSPAPERS

Includes all newspapers, including glossy inserts in the Sunday editions. These items are to be placed in a brown paper shopping bag or tied in bundles of less than 30 pounds.

These items can be placed all together in one container with commingle, mixed papers and corrugated cardboard, or you can continue to separate by placing commingle in recycling container, mixed paper and newspaper in a brown bag and corrugated cardboard by flattening and bundling. All items will ultimately be mixed together when picked up by contractor and thrown into recycling truck. Place items curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your recycling will be picked up. Do not place your recycling in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Recycling placed on the parkstrip will not harm the grass. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD

Includes all types of unwaxed and uncoated corrugated cardboard and does not include food boxes or laundry detergent boxes. Corrugated is to be flattened and bundled.

These items can be placed all together in one container with commingle, newspapers, and corrugated cardboard, or you can continue to separate by placing commingle in recycling container, mixed paper and newspaper in a brown bag and corrugated cardboard by flattening and bundling. All items will ultimately be mixed together when picked up by contractor and thrown into recycling truck. Place items curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your recycling will be picked up. FENCING & R.R. TIES

:All wooden fencing & R.R. ties should be cut to 4’ lengths and limited to no more than 10 pieces
per week. They can be put out for trash on Friday. If contractor is doing work the contractor is responsible for disposal of all debris. Place fencing & R.R. ties curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your fencing & R.R. ties will be picked up. Do not place your fencing & R.R. ties in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Fencing & R.R. ties placed on park strip will not harm the grass.

TIRES

May be put out for regular trash pick up without the rim; limit 2 per household per week. Tires
w/rim will not be taken. Place tires curbside the night before collection put no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your tires will be picked up. Do not place your tires in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Tires placed on the park strip will not harm the grass.

VEGETATIVE WASTE

:Includes grass clippings, sticker balls, acorns, pine cones and viney type materials such as ivy,
honey-suckle, poison ivy, laurel and plant clippings. Vegetative waste is to be placed in an open trash container of not more than 30 gal., and/or contractor grade trash bag weighing not more than 50 lbs. Pick up of vegetative waste shall occur from March 30th thru September 28th, 2009. Please, no dirt or sod. Place vegetative waste curbside the night before collection but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your vegetative waste will be picked up. Do not place your vegetative waste in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may cause a liability problem. Vegetative waste placed on the park strip will not harm the grass.

WASTE OIL

Waste oil may be brought to the Public Works Yard Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. Please stop at office to be checked in and provide proof of residency. Please do not drop off after hours and leave at gate.

HAZARDOUS WASTE

Will not be picked up by the DPW. Residents should call the Camden County Department of Environmental Affairs at 858-5241 for information on the legal disposal of these materials. The CCDEA does provide a household hazardous waste collection schedule for disposal of these types of items. Examples of hazardous waste are the following: car batteries, oil based paints, propane tanks, fuel, etc.

TRASH

Trash collected by South Jersey Sanitation. Place trash curbside the night before collection
but no earlier than 1:00 p.m. the day preceding collection to ensure that your trash will be picked up. Do not place your trash cans and bags in the street as this is a dangerous practice that may
cause a liability problem. Trash cans and bags placed on the park strip will not harm the grass.

ELECTRONICS

Effective March 2010, Barrington residents can bring the following electronic recyclables to the Department of Public Works between 7:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Residents must sign in at office (no dumping of waste at gate after hours allowed).

Directions: Located off Clements Bridge Road - Southbound Clements Bridge Road make a right onto Reamer Drive and proceed straight back to complex. Complex is next to the Barrington Mews Apt. Complex.
